New Releases This Week On OTT: All Of Us Strangers to Doctor Who on Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, Sony Liv & More

OTT releases This week:  Time for a weekly roundabout of new releases slated to stream this week of May 2024. From ‘All of Us Strangers’ to ‘Doctor Who’ there are plenty to choose from to keep you entertained this week with shows spanning from comedy to romance, to true crime. 

All Of Us Strangers 

Date: 8 May 

Platform: Disney+  Hotstar

The fantasy romance stars Andrew Scott as Adams, a lonely screenwriter occupied with the memories of his past trying to find solace in his now abandoned house where he used to live with his parents. The visit to the house turns into a romantic affair between him and a mysterious neighbour Paul essayed by Paul Mescal.  

Dark Matter 

Date: 8 May 

Platform: Apple TV+ 

Based on the book of the same title by Blake Crouch, ‘Dark Matter’ is a science fiction set in Chicago with the story revolving around a physicist Jason Dessen (Joel Edgerton) who finds himself in an alternate universe living different lives, and learning lessons from all the life decisions he did not make.   

Under The Bridge 

Date: 8 May 

Platform: Disney+  Hotstar

Developed by Quinn Shephard, and starring Gladstone, ‘Under The Bridge’ is inspired by a true-crime book by Rebecca Godfrey of the same title. The plot unfolds the death of a young girl who has mysteriously vanished one day. Her murder unearths many sins the community is fostering in her hometown.

Bodkin 

Date: 9 May 

Platform: Netflix 

A dark comedy 7-episode thriller series set in an Irish town ‘Bodkin’ is a story about a group of people tasked with investigating the three disappeared townsfolk. As they hark on this investigation, it gets difficult to separate reality from deception.

 

Maxton Hall 

Date: 9 May 

Platform: Prime Video  

The cinematic adaptation of Mona Kasten’s book ‘Save Me’, ‘Maxton Hall’ is a slow-burn romance starring Harriet Herbig-Matten as Ruby Bell and Damian Hardung as James Beaufort in primary roles. Ruby is a scholarship student in Maxton Hall. Her life intertwines with James, a privileged brat when she gets to know his secret.  

Undekhi Season 3 

Date: 10 May 

Platform: Sony Liv   

In the next season of the series, the Atwal family comes to face their past. The series directed by Korok Murmu, stars Ishaa Saha, Suhotra Mukhopadhyay, Rishi Kaushik, and Saurav Das. Prepare for a gripping experience of truth, crime, justice, and moral ambiguity. 

The Midnight Romance in Hagwon

Date: 11 May 

Platform: Viki 

The Korean romance melodrama stars Wi Ha-joon and Jung Ryeo-won. Lee Joon Ho and Seo Hye Jin, former teachers, and students, reunite after a decade in the same institution as a teacher where they were one teacher-student. 

Doctor Who Season 14 

Date: 11 May 

Platform: Disney+ Hotstar

In season 14 of the British science fiction series, Ncuti Gatwa takes up the role of Doctor Who travelling through different time periods with his sidekick Ruby Sunday marking Millie Gibson’s debut in the series.
