The elimination of slums has sparked a new uproar in Mehrauli, a neighbourhood in Delhi. Workers from the Aam Aadmi Party violently protested outside the BJP office in Delhi on Saturday. The Delhi Police made an effort to halt the Aam Aadmi Party workers during this time, nevertheless. In response to this, there was an altercation between the police and the demonstrators. Following the DDA's notice to those residing in the Mehrauli slums, this demonstration was held.
Workers for the Aam Aadmi Party claimed that despite the Prime Minister's claims that he will provide housing for everyone, the DDA is razing people's homes under the direction of his own party. According to reports, Mehrauli's more than 100 slums must be removed following a notification from the DDA (Delhi Development Authority). People were informed that the DDA would use bulldozers to destroy the slum if they did not do it themselves. This warning is now a problem thanks to the Aam Aadmi Party.
