Nirmala Sitharaman Political Journey: Nirmala Sitharaman was once again elected as the Finance Minister of India, under the new Modi government. Before Sitharaman, the late Arun Jaitely served as the Finance Minister in 2014-15 and 2018-2019.
Nirmala Sitharaman First Term
In 2019, after becoming the Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharam reduced the corporate tax from 30% to 20% to maintain the minimum governance. At the time of Covid-19, Sitharaman announced a package of Rs. 20 lakh Cr. In the last 5 years, i.e. from 2019 to 2024, the Indian markets have shown a very magnificent rally in Sitharamam’s term.
