Hina Khan Cancer: Television actress Hina Khan, currently facing stage 3 breast cancer, continues to inspire others with her strength and courage. She has been honest about her cancer struggle on Instagram, bringing hope and courage to others experiencing similar challenges. She recently highlighted a frequent side effect of chemotherapy: changes in nail color and texture. She posted an image of her nails, stating that they have turned dry, brittle, and weak as a result of the therapy, but assuring her followers that these effects are just temporary.
Cancer experts say that chemotherapy and hormone therapy cause nail discolouration and changes. Chemotherapy can cause nails to discolour, form horizontal or vertical lines, and become brittle. These effects, however, usually reduce in 4-6 months for fingernails and around a year for toenails. Vertical lines may also emerge as a result of long-term hormone therapy. Importantly, these nail changes are temporary and should not cause concern.
